The Importance of Being Present with Family

Today I realized I haven't posted to my blog in a long time. This is what happens to me, I really want to do something. Then I get lost, and forget. I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter. As long as my kids are happy and healthy that's all that really matters to me. I will however make this blog a continuing focus, so I am not going to forget.
I get my children back in less than an hour, which is exciting but stressful. This is my weekend so I have them today, which is Friday. Until next Wed! My oldest gets back from her vacation with a friend tomorrow, she's been gone a week. This is her second vacation in a row. It let's me fully appreciate her, and how she helps even more. Then on the 27th, we are taking the long trip back to where I'm from. Upstate ny, which is 8 1/2 hours away. I used to make the trip overnight, which is the best way with 6 kids. But I kept falling asleep 3/4 of the way. So that has to stop, now we get a hotel which is a lot more fun for the kids. I remember long road trips with family, and how excited I would get. So I try to make it as fun as possible. This is an area where having a brain injury helps. I live in the moment, which is better for kids I think. Besides that I have to put my 2 cats and dog in a kennel for a week. They are a dog training center though, so they do a really good job.
So today is clean the house, get groceries, dinner, and dishes. I need to mow my big lawn too, which I do with a push mower. In the heat it really is a workout. That's my play by play today. Tomorrow is new and maybe more exciting. We will see, most importantly I'm alive to enjoy it. Which is something I look forward to the rest of my life.
